3.3 Online and Blended Learning
Candidates develop, model, and facilitate the use of online and blended learning, digital content, and learning networks to support and extend student learning and expand opportunities and choices for professional learning for teachers and administrators.
Reflection
The Multimedia Design Project was completed to develop an online learning experience that extends student learning. This Multimedia Design Project is a webquest that can use throughout the school district by 4th grade teachers to provide students with a blended, project-based learning activity that can increase student engagement. I designed the project, but another teacher helped with the implementation.
Standard 3.3, Online and Blended Learning establishes expectations for developing, modeling, and facilitating online and blended learning, digital content, and learning networks. The artifact demonstrates my ability to develop, model, and facilitate online and blended learning with digital content and learning networks. Students will conduct a short research project that build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of the Oregon Trail through the use of digital content that provides online and blended learning. The webquest provides links to online learning games, videos, and additional facts pertaining to the content. Students will write routinely over extended time period in an electronic journal or paper journal.
Completing this project allowed me the opportunity to explore online resources to help support blended learning. The project was very helpful for the fourth grade teacher, I enjoyed designing this webquest for others to use. One thing I would do differently are design a webquest to be used by my kindergarten students and create my own video to explain the Oregon Trail. This way I would have more involvement in the implementation of the project.
The artifact impacts student learning by promoting online and blended learning to increase student engagement and achievement. The impact can be assessed by observing the level of student engagement and through formative and summative assessments at district and state levels and by the student’s ability to conduct research and make application of online and blended learning experience.
